“Our job is to graphically translate who you are”: Prost studio on design, strategy and art direction
Pitched as the perfect polymaths, the studio lets us in on why it’s creating concept-driven identities with a multidisciplinary approach.
Independent design studio Prost takes its name from studio founder Manon Prost, “but it also means cheers in German”, she tells us, “which kind of represents the genuine human connection I try to create on each project.” The studio – initially a one-woman show, and now a team based between London and Marseille – had its start earlier last year, following Manon’s five-year stint as a freelancer. Her motivation for opening the doors to Prost? “To collaborate with talented creatives across the globe,” she says.
Since then, the team has built up quite the reputation for bold brand identities that deliver the full package when it comes to copywriting, art direction, web and motion design, photography, styling… (the list goes on). Pitched as the perfect polymaths, the studio aims to world-build around each brand, “creating striking concept-driven work with a type-led approach”. Whatever the brief, “our design practice goes hand in hand with strategy and creativity”, shares Manon. “We often say to our clients that our job is to ‘graphically translate who you are’ in order to attract the right kind of audience.”
Always searching to deliver something a bit different, the studio has attracted projects across beauty, fashion, food and lifestyle, with brands that lend themselves to an unexpected look; one being its identity for Houston-based vegan burger joint Feast that challenged what the face of vegan fast food could look like. Its sleek and expressive brand identity for luxury wig brand E.T Wigs, founded by Endah Tche, also leaned into striking personal style to reflect the brand’s movements beyond traditional beauty standards. “Our focus is really always on brands that evoke emotion,” Manon concludes.
