It’s Nice That’s Review Of The Year 2018 is alive and kicking, and back by popular demand is our one-word Instagram brief where we ask you to reflect on your year, too.
We’re not asking for your emails, tweets, texts or calls. Instead, in honour of your creative minds, we’re asking you to craft a visual representation of one word which sums up your year.
Your word can be interpreted through the medium of illustration, photography, graphic design, or even sculpture if that’s your thing. Just upload the image to Instagram with #OneWord18 @itsnicethat.
On 4 January the It’s Nice That creative team will pick the eight responses they think best answered the brief. The selected images will be featured right here on It’s Nice That, plus you’ll win an It’s Nice That tote bag full of surprises.
To kick things off, we asked graphic designers Studio Feixen and illustrator Egle Zvirblyte to reflect on their year in visual and verbal form.
Egle Zvirblyte – Energy
My word for this year will be ENERGY. As in having more and more creative energy to materialise bigger and bigger things, and my work having more energy to reach and resonate with more people. Also crashing with energy during exhaustion from work, and redistributing and balancing energy between everything I do so it comes back as enjoyment.
Studio Feixen – Pizza
For us 2018 was all about Italy. First we had a super funny Italian intern named Gianluca and listened to Italian pop music only. Every day we were talking about Italian food and we were taught what al dente really means. Later we decided to open our own pizzeria together with Manuele and Marcello – the best Pizza-yolos in central Switzerland! And now Alice, our new Italian employee, is simply fantastica.
How to enter:
Choose one word which best describes your year.
Incorporate that word into a design, illustration, photograph or any other form of image.
Upload the image to Instagram with #OneWord18 @itsnicethat.
What happens if your image is selected?
Your image will feature in an article on It’s Nice That with a link to your Instagram page. Your image will also feature on the It’s Nice That Instagram with your @ handle tagged into the image.
You’ll also win an It’s Nice That tote bag filled with some rather nice goodies.
Tip and bits:
You can enter as many images as you like, but only one will be selected.
The image can be any form of visual, as long as it clearly demonstrates what one word sums up your year.
Think about the character of the word you choose, how could that translate into an image?
