Since 2010, It’s Nice That has paid tribute to the latest batch of creative stars about to enter the industry, and this year is no different. Up until last year (2020) the series was known as The Graduates and recognised freshly baked creatives from around the world who were finishing up their studies. But with a number of industry shake-ups in the last year – including a pandemic and a wave of crucial social movements – the series has been updated. This year, we are proud to introduce you to The Next Generation, a carefully selected roster of the most promising creatives entering the industry, regardless of whether they have a formal education or not.

A few months ago, we kicked off the series with a handful of insightful advice articles for those starting out on a creative career. This included a look at how projects are costed, as international freelancers told us what they actually charge for new briefs, and a list of handy links detailing everything an aspiring creative needs to know when entering the industry. But today, the main event is here. We’re delighted to be celebrating 14 phenomenal creatives in a stellar showcase of new talent, plus 19 others in a long list of further ingenuity that we couldn’t help but feature too.

Below, you’ll find a staggering array of top notch creativity, spotlighting creatives who are just dipping their toes in industry waters and yet delivering projects above and beyond their years. From a designer confronting the cultural taboos of pornography through sensory animations and machine learning, to a fashion designer paying tribute to potent childhood memories in Ghana; there is a reservoir of spectacular creativity to pore over below. You’ll find sleek Swiss graphic design, hilarious animated shorts, a photographic essay raising awareness on the endangerment of bees, an artist who turns TikTok culture on its head, brilliant game design, an ode to African hair as told through film, and much more in this shining first-of-its-kind showcase for It’s Nice That. And with that, all that’s left to say is: enjoy.
