Review of the Year 2024
2024: A rollercoaster year where great creativity and storytelling triumphed.
This year has seen the creative world face some of its biggest challenges yet, but – as we’ve learned over the years – we can always rely on the incredible ideas and stories of the creative people we feature to light the way through.
In our annual Review of the Year series, we round up some of the most popular stories across It’s Nice That in various categories: Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Moving Image (a new one for 2024 including film and animation), as well as the overall Top 50 most read articles this year. We also curated a couple: one gathering a few of our favourite Nicer Tuesdays talks in London and New York (from Quil Lemons to Harriet Richardson), another selecting the editorial team’s favourite projects – ones that didn’t make the rankings, but we think deserve extra air time.
Alongside all that, together with Frontify, we’ve cherry picked the top five branding moments this year and dug a little deeper into their impact; and investigated why brand mascots are a dying breed.
From cat flow charts, to poignant photos taken by Ukrainian children, to plenty of surrealism, and a good few rebrands, this series sums up another eclectic and inspiring year on It’s Nice That. Enjoy!
